How it all began…
My story begins when I retired from a 15 year career as a professional ballerina. I found myself feeling stuck and restless without the structure and purpose I had enjoyed that were now gone, and I struggled to navigate this new chapter of my life.
In my search for clarity I discovered yoga and mindfulness meditation. Over time, they became more than just a practice; but a way of life.
Inspired by this shift, I knew I wanted to share these tools with others. I went to school, earning a degree at Lesley University in holistic psychology and became trained in their Mindfulness Studies program. With this knowledge, I created Movement & Mindfulness, a program that integrates movement and mindfulness to support overall well-being.
Today, our team brings this work into schools and communities, helping students and individuals cultivate awareness, resilience, and self-compassion. Through workshops and programs, we empower students to connect with themselves, embrace change, and find strength in both movement and stillness.
My passion is to inspire others to maintain a movement practice and support them in reaching their personal wellness goals. When I’m not teaching, you will find me hanging with friends and family, working out, or planting in the garden.
Kind Words From Others…
“I highly recommend Desiree's mindful program. I really liked having multiple sessions because my students walked away with knowledge about themselves and how to utilize mindfulness throughout their day.” Hunnewell Elementary, Wellesley, MA
“We were looking to bring a new exciting class where students can learn new calming techniques as well as have a mix of dance and movement. Parents have enjoyed sending their children to Movement & Mindfulness. Their children have talked about having some calm time after a busy day at school. Working with Desiree has been great! She is kind, engaging with the children as well as responsive. She works well with the school on all aspects. It has been a pleasure having her a part of the community.”
